The Cosmos roster size increased today with the announcement that Italian midfielder Andrea Mancini had rejoined the club. Mancini originally joined the team in early September last season. “We expect Andrea to compete for playing time this season,” said Cosmos Head Coach Giovanni Savarese in a press release. “He will add depth to our roster and will look into contributing to our overall progress throughout the season.”
Mancini made one appearance for the Cosmos last season, a substitution against Miami FC.
The son of Roberto Mancini and a product of the Inter Milan and Manchester City academies, Mancini joined the Cosmos from DC United and played against the Ft. Lauderdale Strikers in a US Open Cup battle between the two teams.
“I am very happy to be rejoining a team with a winning mentality that has achieved so much in recent years,” commented Mancini. “I look forward to starting the preseason along with my former and new teammates.”
Mancini has been with a number of clubs, including Inter Milan and Manchester City. He has also spent time at Real Valladolid B in Spain, and Budapest Honvéd and Szombathely in Hungary.
The Cosmos now have 16 players on their roster.
