Carlos Llamosa became the first member of the 2016 New York Cosmos technical staff to join a new club as the New England Revolution of MLS announced his signing today.

Empire of Soccer was the first outlet to report on the rumored interest in the former USMNT player by the New England side.

Llamosa was a part of the Cosmos since their first season of play in 2013, joining after playing the same role at Chivas USA from 2010 to 2012.

He returns to New England after playing for the team in 2002-03.

“Carlos was an excellent player and an even better teammate, and we are thrilled to add his passion and energy to our team,” said Revolution Head Coach Jay Heaps of the signing.

The Revolution finished the 2016 season in seventh place, tied with the Philadelphia Union on points, but missed out on the playoffs by goal differential.

They also faced off against the New York Cosmos in the US Open Cup’s Round of 16 on June 29th, coming back to beat New York 3-2.

  1. Sad story of cosmos disappearing little by little 🙁
However, coach savarese needs to do his part and speak to a sports media such as ESPNdeportes, ESPN, fox sports or Univision deportes about cosmos future.
Coach Giovanni has nothing to fear and consequently, if coach Giovanni does a good job on representing the cosmos, probably someone would buy the cosmos and keep him as a coach.
At the end of the day, savarese knows deep inside, cosmos need to be in MLS sooner than later and he will want to coach them again and win MLS cup.
Cosmos would have zero trouble recruiting top DPs if they end up in MLS one day.

  2. True fans of this club, the supporters, those who lived and breathed this club do not want to hear from Seamus-scum or “Stadium guy” Stover. They want to hear from Nick and Luis. Cosmos Country Podcast #72. Happy Holidays Guys and Happy New Year. Auguri, feliz Navidad Luis, Buon Anno Nuovo, Nick.

  3. Happy Holidays guys, this has been a place to call home in the net. Are we doing anything for Sebas as supporters? Have you guys seen the empire of soccer article?

    • I read the article and it is a shame that this can happen to a player that gave everything in the field and for the club. We should make a collection, like the one we did for the front office staff. I am all for it.
let’s help and take care of Sebas, who is in need now.
