A week of happy returns to the Cosmos sees one of the more promising Cosmos players depart, as it was announced early Friday morning that winger Ruben Bover would be joining League Two side Barnet FC in England.

Bover returns to the other side of the pond after a four year stretch to begin his career, which culminated in a two year stretch with now-League One side Charlton Athletic. Bover commented on the signing on Twitter, which apparently came after a trial:

Bover flourished in his first full year with the Cosmos senior team, following a championship run in 2015 with New York Cosmos B. The Mallorca native scored 4 goals and nabbed 2 assists in 1,772 minutes. He joins Barnet FC as their seventh signing of the January window, as “The Bees” are currently tied on points for the final promotion playoff spot in League Two, and are only eight points behind guaranteed promotion.

Bover’s departure leaves Sebastian Guenzatti as the only Cosmos attacker without a club, with Andrés Flores being the lone name returning to the green and white in 2017. At time of writing, the New York Cosmos have nine players signed for the 2017 NASL Season.
