The Cosmos drew in their match yesterday in Ottawa, but the road point came with a price as Sebastian Guenzatti left the field on a stretcher and in visible pain. Today, he shared more info on the severity of his injury.

Our own “Eagle Eye” Steve Hamlin spotted a post on the midfielder’s Facebook page indicating that he had suffered a ruptured cruciate ligament. While more specifics are unclear, it’s highly unlikely we’ll see Guenzatti return this season, a serious loss to the roster as they work to capture the Fall and Combined season titles.

Guenzatti started 22 of his 26 league appearances this season, contributing a goal and two assists.

TICC has reached out to the club for comment.

  1. We all felt bad and terrible for Sebastian last night. For his sake and the team we hope is an injury that it can be overcome, but I am afraid we lost him for the playoffs . He is such an important and steady attacking midfield. Hang in there Sabastian, we are thinking of you and a prompt recovery.
