The last bits of roster news involving the Cosmos have involved departures from the club, but today the New York side announced a signing to the first team as Cosmos B player Kyle McTurk joined them. As usual, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“Kyle has proven himself in training sessions with the first team,” said Cosmos Head Coach Giovanni Savarese. “We are committed to providing a pathway for players that are developing in our club and we’re pleased to add him to the squad as we push for another successful season.”
McTurk joins after spending the earlier part of the year with Cosmos B, making 11 starts at right back for the NPSL side. The 26-year-old Long Island native previously had played for Stony Brook University starting 63 of his 71 appearances.
McTurk also featured in their May 25th friendly against SD Eibar, making an appearance in the 82nd minute. He was on the bench for the Cosmos’ first Open Cup match of the season against Jersey Express and was often seen in team practice sessions.
“I’m very excited about this opportunity,” commented McTurk. “I’m focused on working hard and contributing to the team any way I can.”
McTurk joins other former Cosmos B players like John Neeskens, Haji Wright, and Ruben Bover by moving up from the NPSL team to the NASL side.
