Exciting moments lay ahead for Cosmos fans hungry for signing news as it appears the club is close to closing the deal on not one, but two Venezuelan candidates.

In an interview this morning with, Head Coach and Sporting Director Giovanni Savarese was asked about the likelihood of Juan Arango joining the New York Cosmos for the 2016 season.

“We are, at this moment, finalizing the team. There are a few pieces left to complete it. We’re close enough that I think by this Monday, 90% of the team will be signed. And the possibility of Juan Arango being on the club is there.”

Savarese indicated that the Cosmos had been in communication with Arango for a long time and was not shy about crediting a player like him for his career, which had taken him across Venezuela, Mexico, Mallora, and Borussia Monchengladbach.

“I think for our club, for me, it’d be extraordinary to have a player of Juan’s quality; what he’s brought to each club he’s gone to would be fantastic,” said the Venezuelan coach of the possible signing. “It would be something very positive for our club.”

Then Gio dropped a surprise that nobody had reported as confirmed yet.

“And I’ll tell you something else, he might not be the only Venezuelan coming. We’ll see if another one might come.”

Asked if he could release details or a name on the unknown candidate, Gio remained as elusive as ever.

“We’re close to the possibility of announcing it and I think he’s going to bring a lot to us. Our club will be very important to him as he continues to grow and show his best football. Without a doubt, he’s someone with a lot of potential.”

The name Yohandry Orozco has come up in rumors recently as he has been linked to the NASL and MLS. Orozco is a 24-year-old attacking midfielder with experience in Venezuela and a handful of matches in the Bundesliga with Wolfsburg. Richard Morales, a reporter with Meridiano, has indicated that Orozco is on the way to the Cosmos, but that is not confirmed.

Stay tuned, Cosmos Country. Looks like interesting things are headed our way.
