Holt received the start over Jimmy Maurer, making his first appearance since July 9th.
In the midfield, David Diosa switched from left wing to right, occupying the spot typically occupied by Sebastian Guenzatti.
Arrieta was the lone forward up top.
It took the Costa Rican less than 90 seconds to find the net after he redirected a ball from Arango with a header that sailed in just out of Miami keeper Daniel Vega’s reach.
Five minutes later, they had doubled their lead. A ball intended for Arrieta was cleared away by former Cosmos defender Hunter Freeman before Vega could reach it. His clearance landed at the feet of a wide open Orozco who chipped the ball into an open net.
Miami suffered another early setback as Adailton left the match with an injury in the ninth, replaced by Rhett Bernstein. Before the half ended, they went to the bench again as Wilson Palacios also left injured, replaced by Calvin Rezende. The 30th minute saw Arango convert his third straight free kick chance, dating back to their last match with the Armada. His shot easily beat Vega on the right side for the third goal of the match.
Orozco struck again in the 36th minute after receiving a pass from Arango. He walked the ball to about 30 yards from the goal before firing a low, hard shot through traffic and past Vega to round out the scoring for the half.
Despite both sides fighting to find the net in the second half, the keepers held the guns silent and the match ended 4-0.There was one highlight after the whistle blew; Cosmos midfielder Danny Szetela proposed to his girlfriend at the end of the match, in front of a huge contingent of family on Polish Heritage Night. The 5 Points supporters assisted in the form of a “Will You Marry Me” tifo.
She said “Yes.”The Cosmos finish the season with a home record of 14-2-0 and will put their current five-game unbeaten streak on the line next week in their final regular-season match of 2016, an away match vs Minnesota United.
