Arrieta, Freeman and Kranjčar claim spots on NASL Team of the Week

Cf7g2yoWcAAU0BcWith a solid 2-0 win over the Armada, three Cosmos found theselves placed on the NASL Team of the Week. for Spring Week 2, making the Cosmos the best-represented team on the squad.

With a big hand in keeping the shutout intact, Hunter Freeman won a spot for his defensive performance, which included winning three tackles, six duels, and also featuring an interception and a clearance. It’s safe to say Hunter’s performance is part of the reason Jimmy Maurer was snubbed in Week 2.

Niko Kranjčar earns his first appearance for the Cosmos in his first start. He assisted on the second Cosmos goal, scored by Adam Moffat, but his defensive effort also played a large part in this, by winning six duels. and for making two tackles, two interceptions, and a clearance.

Jairo Arrieta made his second straight appearance. After getting on for helping create two goals last week, he gets on for scoring one of his own this week, the first and eventually game-winning goal.

Other Notables: Carolina landed two players while staying undefeated after two. Nazmi Albadawi’s two assists and five chances created and Austin da Luz’s two goals, one a game-winner landed them spots on the team as well. Minnesota’s Ben Speas earns a spot with two goals this weekend, including a lovely touch to put a ball over a defender, spin around him and score.
