Juan Arango has had a hell of a month. First he’s announced NASL Player of the Month for the month of October. Then, he contributes a goal and an assist in the Cosmos semifinal win over Rayo OKC. Tuesday, he was awarded the 2016 Emirates Player of the Year award.

Now you can add one more item to the list as Juan Arango becomes the first Cosmos to claim the NASL Golden Ball as the league’s most valuable player.

“I am very honored,” Arango said. “I am very surprised, too, because there has been several outstanding players in the NASL this season, but I must say it’s very rewarding.”

The Venezuelan finished the season tied for second on both goals (15) and assists (7). Five of his strikes came off free kicks.

Arango’s name has been heard often this year, making the league’s Team of the Week ten times and claiming Player of the Week twice to go with his Player of the Month nod.

His play undisputably helped the Cosmos claim the #1 seed and helped the club past a determined Rayo OKC side.

“This achievement sure does boost our team’s confidence as we look to retain the championship and reward our fans for their unconditional support,” Arango added.

Venezuela’s career leader in goals and appearances has now left his legacy on a Cosmos side contesting yet another Soccer Bowl trophy.
