12380128_10154215382351091_2123183632_nHis first match with La Verde came on Saturday night in Kansas City as Bolivia faced off against the United States in a friendly.

Duk played 90 minutes in a 4-0 loss to the home team and earned a yellow card, probably not what the striker had in mind for his first outing since joining them for the round of international matches.

However, Duk has taken a positive step in his international career. At 28-years-old, the striker was given the captaincy for the first time this weekend, a move that almost certainly would not have been possible if he stayed in the Bolivian league due to a rejection of call-ups by players of eight of the twelve teams in the league, including the two who are profiting from his loan back home, Oriente Petrolero and Sport Boys.

A poor result, but positive news for Yasmani as he advances his international career and prepares for the team’s first match of the Centenario against Panama on June 6th.
