Pair of Cosmos earn U.S. U-19 Roster Call-Ups

12874323_10154215357141091_2016518768_oLater this month, the U.S. U-19 National Team will be competing in the Slovakia Cup, and the roster will include two New York Cosmos players.

Both defender Alexis Velela and midfielder Eric Calvillo have been selected by new head coach Brad Friedel as part of a 20-man roster that will open the tournament against Georgia on April 25th. The United States will be part of Group A which features Georgia, Ukraine and the host nation Slovakia. Group B will feature Russia, Norway, Macedonia and the Czech Republic, with all teams competing for a spot in the April 29th final in Myjava.

Both have featured extensively since the U-15 level, with both featuring in the recent U-17 World Cup with former Cosmos (now Schalke) forward Haji Wright. Additionally, Calvillo captained the U-19s at the Copa del Atlantico tournament in Spain this past January.
