Cosmos announce new home venue MCU Park, #CosmosToBK hashtag

After months of without sleep, the boys in green are coming to Brooklyn. On Thursday, the New York Cosmos announced that they would be playing at MCU Park in Brooklyn for the 2017 NASL Season. The move comes after an unceremonious end to a four year relationship with Hofstra’s Shuart Stadium in Hempstead. MCU is not new turf for the Cosmos, as they first hosted the Ottawa Fury on May 2, 2015 at the ballpark. The venue later played host to the 2015 NASL Championship Semi-Final, which saw Raul score the winning goal over the Fort Lauderdale Strikers in the 61st minute. Continue reading

Labor, citizens, Cosmos fans rally for the stadium at Belmont

“WHAT DO WE WANT?” “THE STADIUM!” “WHEN DO WE WANT IT?” “NOW!”

The cry rang out early and often across the course of the Cosmos stadium rally as labor workers, local citizens, and fans of the club net at the proposed stadium site in Elmont. Between 150 and 200 people were in attendance as all parties demanded action from Albany in contrast to the opposition protest about a week before that numbered about a dozen in attendance.
