Match Recap: New York Cosmos earn first win of 2017, defeat Miami 2-0

The New York Cosmos were outshot heavily and saved by the upright on two occasions, but hung on to a 2-0 win in Miami, their first of the 2017 season.

Danny Szetela and Ayoze each scored a goal and Jimmy Maurer held Miami silent for his second shutout in three games.

Danny Szetela returns to New York Cosmos a month after signing with San Francisco Deltas

Just over a month ago, the San Francisco Deltas announced the signing of Cosmos fan favorite Danny Szetela in the midst of news that the New York Cosmos might not field a team for the 2017 season.

And, more often than not, “The Hype” claims careers over long before they actually are.

Cosmos end Rayo match with one more goal, three more players

13313852_10154356571796091_1628376223_oThe Cosmos beat Rayo OKC 1-0 on Saturday night, ending the visitors’ three-game unbeaten streak on the road and staying perfect at home with a 5-0-0 record before their initial US Open Cup match on Wednesday and final league match of the Spring away at Fort Lauderdale. Each team controlled a key stat for the evening. The Cosmos had 100% of goals. Rayo had 100% of the red cards. Continue reading
