It’s been a wild week for the Cosmos. A dive against Puerto Rico FC likely leads to a win. A match against a PDL side leads to a disastrous exit from the Open Cup. And the team is now off playing a friendly in Saudi Arabia.
Historically, the team’s exit from the Cup (usually in the Round of 16) has led to existential questions about the state of the team and the long-term. With the Cosmos crashing out immediately, the questions begin now.

The Cosmos are back, although a major rebuilding phase awaits them on the field. Still waiting on news of a home for the 2017 season, many questions are still remain on who will suit up for the green and white.
While several mainstays and fan favorites of the club have departed, three players will return for them in 2017.
When US Youth National team member Eric Calvillotalked to SBI Soccer about his first professional contract in January, he set a modest set of goals.
“Hopefully, I can expect to get a couple of minutes and develop my game.”
Calvillo certainly exceeded those parameters this past Saturday, earning his first professional start for the Cosmos against Minnesota United. At only 18, the start would be quite the occasion for the midfielder. Continue reading →
