Flores, Menjivar, and Herrera receive El Salvador call ups, may miss season opener

With World Cup qualifiers and other international call-ups becoming second nature to Cosmos in 2016, it appears 2017 will bring much of the same.

On Saturday, the club announced that Andrés Flores, Richard Menjivar, and Irvin Herrera were called up by El Salvador for a pair of friendlies in preparation for the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup. The trio were essential in gaining La Selecta a spot in the tournament, with Flores (wearing the captain’s armband) assisting on Herrera’s goal in a 1-0 win over Nicaragua to finish third in the 2017 Copa Centroamericana. Tests for Cosmos depth as four players receive call-ups

Andres Flores, Yasmani Duk, David Ochieng, and Eric Calvillo have all received call-ups to the El Salvador, Bolivia, Kenya, and US U-19 sides, respectively. Continue reading
