NASL release 2016 Best XI, three Cosmos make the list

One can argue that Juan Arango is making a case as the greatest Cosmos of the Modern Era and the season still isn’t over.

In one year with the Cosmos, he’s become their highest scorer, leaving behind the record set by Marcos Senna across three seasons. He’s taken several honors across the year, including the Emirates Player of the Year award and recently, the NASL Golden Ball.

TICC had a chance to discuss the course of the season and future plans with the Venezuelan player shortly after he received the Emirates trophy this week. He seems very satisfied, not just with his own accomplishments, but the efforts of his teammates across the year.  Continue reading

Juan Arango has had a hell of a month. First he’s announced NASL Player of the Month for the month of October. Then, he contributes a goal and an assist in the Cosmos semifinal win over Rayo OKC. Tuesday, he was awarded the 2016 Emirates Player of the Year award.

Now you can add one more item to the list as Juan Arango becomes the first Cosmos to claim the NASL Golden Ball as the league’s most valuable player.  Continue reading

Cardiac Cosmos defeat Rayo OKC 2-1 in the 90th; advance to host NASL Final

The New York Cosmos defeated Rayo OKC 2-1, coming back from a first half deficit to win the match and the right to host the NASL Final at Belson Stadium next week. The New York Cosmos remained undefeated at home, handing Miami FC a 4-0 drubbing behind goals from Jairo Arrieta, Juan Arango, a brace from Yohandry Orozco, and a shutout from Brian Holt. The win also set a Modern Era NASL record for an unbeaten streak at home with 19 games, breaking their previous record of 18.  Continue reading
