NEW YORK - International players helped several North American Soccer League (NASL) teams score key results in Week 7 Fall Season action. Carolina RailHawks midfielder Ty Shipalane (South Africa), Ottawa Fury FC midfielder Sinisa Ubiparipovic (Bosnia & Herzegovina), and FC Edmonton defender Lance Laing (Jamaica) all scored game-winning goals for their respective teams to shake up the NASL Fall Season Standings this past weekend.

Shipalane broke a scoreless draw in the final minute of play by notching his fourth goal of the year to give the Carolina RailHawks a 1-0 road win over the Tampa Bay Rowdies at Al Lang Stadium on Saturday.

After a rain delay that lasted more than two hours on Saturday evening, visiting Ottawa Fury FC topped Indy Eleven, 2-1, to earn its first victory of the Fall Season at Carroll Stadium in Indianapolis. Ubiparipovic’s game-winner in the 86th minute came just moments after Jamaican midfielder Don Smart scored the equalizer for Indy Eleven.

In other action on Saturday night, Norwegian forward Mads Stokkelien scored the game-tying goal for the New York Cosmos as they played to a 1-1 draw against Minnesota United FC at Hofstra University’s James M. Shuart Stadium. Meanwhile, Costa Rican midfielder Cesar Elizondo notched his first tally since joining the San Antonio Scorpions in the club’s 2-1 victory over the visiting Atlanta Silverbacks at Toyota Field. Honduran midfielder Junior Sandoval had the only goal for Silverbacks in the loss.

On Sunday, Laing scored the game-winning goal and assisted on FC Edmonton’s first goal (from English midfielder Ritchie Jones) in the team’s 2-1 home victory over the Fort Lauderdale Strikers at Clarke Stadium.
