New York, NY - Hey Cosmos Country! I’m enjoying the New York Cosmos recent offseason moves.

From the addition of their Reserve Team to the signing of former San Antonio Scorpions midfielder Walter Restrepo, to their upcoming participation in the 2015 Lunar New Year Cup, the Cosmos 2015 NASL season looks promising. Click here to see their home schedule.

I don’t know about you but I love the idea that the Cosmos will play a regular Spring Season match in Brooklyn when they face the Ottawa Fury on Saturday, May 2 at MCU Park, the home of my favorite NY baseball team, the Brooklyn Cyclones. For the record, it will not be the first time a Cosmos player or Cosmos Girl go to MCU Park and you can read all about it here. Nevertheless, I’m excited about this and I hope there’s fireworks following the match.

For this edition of Covering Soccer, you will read my interview with Juan Mesa of Manzana Pecosa. This interview took place on Saturday, January 3 at Molino Rojo Restaurant in the Bronx. In this series of articles, you’re going to learn about Juan’s upbringing, his thoughts about the NY/NJ soccer scene and his future goals. From Colombia to Nueva York, you’re going to learn what drove Juan to fall in love with the beautiful game in our area and beyond.

With that said, here’s Part One of Covering Soccer 101 with Juan Mesa.
