NEW YORK – The New York Cosmos announced today that Nike will be the team’s official kit supplier for the 2013 NASL fall season. The attached jersey designs have been created by Nike in conjunction with the Cosmos. When the Cosmos return to the field at Hofstra University’s Shuart Stadium on Aug. 3 for the first time in nearly 30 years, they will sport the same colors and iconic logo as previously adorned by soccer legends Pelé, Franz Beckenbauer, Giorgio Chinaglia and Carlos Alberto during the 70s and 80s.

“Nike is undoubtedly one of the top sports apparel companies in the world,” Cosmos COO Erik Stover said. “We’re excited to enter into partnership with Nike and join their global soccer family. This is a significant step in our return to competitive soccer and we look forward to growing our long-term partnership.”

The Cosmos’ primary kit for the NASL 2013 fall season features a white shirt with green crew-neck collar, numbers and letters, plus white shorts with a green stripe and number. The secondary kit features a similar design with the green and white reversed. Both designs will be worn with white socks.

“Nike Soccer is proud and honored to partner with the New York Cosmos to provide innovative performance products to the coaches and players of the Club,” Nike Soccer’s General Manager for North America, Mark Seneker said.

The Cosmos jerseys will be available for pre-order from www.NYCosmos.com/shop beginning in June. The jerseys will also be sold during all Cosmos home games at Hofstra University’s Shuart Stadium this fall.

About the New York Cosmos

The Cosmos began play in 1971, spending 14 seasons in the earlier NASL, winning five Soccer Bowl trophies and bringing some of the biggest names in world soccer history to North America including Pelé, Franz Beckenbauer, Carlos Alberto and Giorgio Chinaglia. The Cosmos last won the NASL Soccer Bowl in 1982.

It’s been nearly 30 years since the Cosmos, an iconic global soccer club, have played in a professional league. Yet throughout their absence, the club has maintained a loyal and dedicated fan following.

On July 12, 2012, it was announced that the New York Cosmos will return to the NASL, beginning play at Hofstra University’s Shuart Stadium. The Cosmos first game is Aug. 3, 2013 at 7 p.m. against the Fort Lauderdale Strikers. Tickets are available at www.nycosmos.com and by dialing 855-71-COSMOS.

The Cosmos also recently submitted a privately-funded economic development proposal to the State of New York to build a world-class 25,000-seat professional soccer stadium at Belmont Park. More information about the proposal and renderings can be found at www.newcosmosstadium.com.

New York Cosmos season tickets for the 2013 Fall Season range from $96 to $224 per seat, with all-inclusive Club Seat packages available for $680 per seat. The club is currently accepting deposits for priority access once season tickets go on sale. Further details can be found at www.nycosmos.com/tickets.
