Inner Circle - Who are ya?

This story out of the Daily Mail today has Inner Circle Sports LLC also behind a possible Cosmos return and this of course brings about a famous soccer question. "Who are ya?"

Per their website they have a 50 years of combined banking, operating and investing experience in sports in sports. They also mention how they have worked with every professional league.

So what does this mean? Not much, this is nothing HUGE but thought it would be good to share with you. While this Cosmos group is quite for the most part, here and there you get a blip of information. The most interesting part of this was how on the daily mail, they state that this team could return next year. This would imply that the traveling team is going to be a starting point for this Cosmos group.

The biggest question remains is - Will this ultimately end in the Cosmos joining a US based league and playing its home games in New York City?

Red Bull Arena - A Review

I’ll start it off with the facts: I am not a die-hard Red Bull supporter. In fact, I cannot even say I am a FAN. I live in New York, so I do watch and hope they do well but at this point I am more of an MLS fan. While some of our group cannot root for Red Bull for various reasons, I am not one of them, so I will make this review honestly.

Red Bull could not have drawn up a more perfect evening, huh? Not only was the weather a gem, but the result on the pitch was special. You have heard the term “crown jewel” in reference to the new Red Bull Arena in Harrison, New Jersey - and the place really does live up to the hype.

As a soccer fan who wants to see the game grow in this country, it really did give me a chill walking into that stadium, as you really can say to all those soccer naysayer out there that the game is here to stay.

Catching Up - Pier 40

All, I do apologize for the lack of posts as I have been making a transition to a new position in the day job and was out of town enjoying an early taste of summer. I do have some decent posts this week about NYC and MLS Expansion.

On the Cosmos front right now, sadly there is no new developments but will pass them along to you all as soon as they happen.

We start with this piece about a potential stadium at the Pier 40 site. This is a very unique idea and the writer definitely paints a great picture of what this could be like, and it is very intriguing. I just think its a bit of a pipe dream.

Pele truly was the greatest!

I found this video online and wanted to share it with you. I think it captures not only how great this man was, but the impact he had on the game in this country

Some fun speculation - UPDATE 3/5

Every once in a while it is OK to put up a piece that has no news or information behind it. The kind of piece that gets a fun conversation going. Here is ours! (News has been slow the past few weeks)

I would not file this story under the GROUNDBREAKING file but it is something of interest for the future of any potential MLS club.

MLS Commissioner Don Garber is looking into the possibility of an English Premier side investing into Major League Soccer and there are some interesting aspects to this.
